Anne Villarin
GDS Accountant / Bookkeper
Accounting is often treated as back-office administration. For Anne, it has always been about creating clarity, structure, and confidence for businesses trying to grow without losing control of their finances in the process.
With more than 20 years of experience across bookkeeping, payroll, financial reporting, and tax compliance, she has worked extensively with SMEs, service-based businesses, and Australian accounting firms. The work spans day-to-day financial management through to the systems and reporting that keep businesses compliant, organised, and operationally stable over the long term.
Her foundation is technical and practical in equal measure. Holding a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy alongside certifications in Taxation, Bookkeeping (NCII), and Tax Technician training, she is also certified in both Xero and QuickBooks Online. Those tools matter, but only when paired with disciplined processes and accurate oversight. Financial software can automate transactions. It cannot replace judgment, consistency, or attention to detail.
Much of her work involves helping businesses regain visibility over their finances after records have fallen behind or reconciliations have become inconsistent. Often, the issue is not a single major mistake, but months of small inaccuracies compounding quietly in the background. By rebuilding clean bookkeeping systems, maintaining accurate payroll records, and ensuring reconciliations are handled correctly, she helps clients move from uncertainty to control.
Clients describe working with her as dependable, professional, and straightforward. The emphasis is always on accuracy, confidentiality, and making financial management feel less overwhelming than it often becomes for growing businesses.
Her advice is practical: keep records organised and updated consistently, not just when tax deadlines approach. Businesses that maintain clean financial data throughout the year make better decisions, avoid unnecessary compliance issues, and reduce the pressure that builds during tax season.
Outside of work, she values continuous improvement just as much as technical precision. Time with family matters, but so does continually developing her knowledge in accounting and bookkeeping to keep pace with changing systems, standards, and client needs.
The part of the work she enjoys most is simple: giving clients peace of mind. When financial records are accurate, reconciliations are complete, and reporting becomes reliable again, business owners can focus on running the business itself instead of worrying about what may have been missed underneath it all.
